House Scheme
In response to the Federal Government of Nigeria’s commitment to providing housing for all through the National Housing Scheme, Plooral Design Ltd, an architectural and construction firm based in Lagos, has taken the initiative to participate in this effort. However, Plooral Design Ltd lacked the means to directly enroll subscribers of the National Housing Scheme, as their funds are managed by the Federal Mortgage Bank. To overcome this challenge, they formed a collaborative partnership with ABUTH IMAN VENTURE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMITED (ICOV).
ICOV is a registered cooperative in Kaduna state, operating nationwide with its base at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) in Zaria. ICOV has a significant number of members who are also staff at ABUTH and ABU, and they are subscribers to the National Housing Scheme. This collaboration provided the necessary avenue to recruit interested members for the housing scheme.
After successful negotiations involving facilitators and legal teams from both organizations, an agreement signing ceremony was scheduled for April 13, 2022, at ICOV’s headquarters in Zaria. ICOV acts as the client in this collaboration, while Plooral Design Ltd serves as the contractor. The signing ceremony witnessed the participation of ICOV’s Board of Management, leaders from the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN ABUTH/ABU), members from Shika village (landowners), and Plooral Design Ltd’s management team.
The agreement pertains to a housing project consisting of 330 bungalows for subscribers of the National Housing Scheme, named the “ICOV BUILDING SCHEME” for reference. The project is expected to be completed within thirty months from the release of funds by the Federal Mortgage Bank to Plooral Design Ltd.
